History
Our company was originated as Royal Patio Manufacturing in 1990, by David Peace. He re-strapped furniture for condominiums and hotels on the west coast of Florida. Business progressed and he began manufacturing raw strap furniture frames and component parts for other manufacturers and refi nishers throughout Florida. By 1996, David bought a small powder coat system and began selling powder coated frames. Gradually, the business grew to manufacturing completed strap furniture, and the company earned a reputation for providing quality commercial-grade furniture. In 1997, The Windward Design Group was born as a sister company to Royal Patio. During that year, Windward's fi rst sling-style dining chairs were developed and retailers throughout Florida began purchasing Windward products. Cushion-style furniture came shortly after in 1998 and the factory grew to include a sewing room. By 2002, Windward was manufacturing 18 different collections of furniture, including deep seating, cushion dining, sling, and strap styles. In 2006, we added padded sling to our offering and in 2008, we launched our eplacement Cushion division. Today, we manufacture over 20 collections of furniture as well as a full line of replacement cushions, and employ approximately 100 people.

We do our best to maintain control over all aspects of production to ensure on-time shipment and we manufacture 100% of our products in our Sarasota, FL plant. Our collections are among the best value in the industry and because our company's roots are in the contract market, all of our products are built with that experience and knowledge in mind. Besides our products though, we also offer a great team of knowledgeable, friendly people that make our company stand out with dependable service.
